Ways To Prevent Acne Scars

Preventing acne scars should be a major concern with anyone who has acne.  Or if your child or teenager is fighting acne then the prevention of scars is a major concern for you.  The first thing to do is get some good information on the treatments and causes of acne scars.  This article will get you started.

When you have acne, it can be devastating as you may want to cover your face every time you go outdoors. It’s true that people judge you within the first few moments on your appearance, and when you have acne it’s stressful that people are going to think less of you, or that they aren’t going to give you as much of a chance because of how you look. However, most people with acne have a greater fear than how people will judge them now. They fear that after their acne finally clears up that there will be acne scars that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. There are ways to prevent acne scars, however, and if you follow a few tips, you should be able to enjoy smooth, clear skin, even after your acne finally goes away.

Over The Counter Products

Many forms of acne will go away with creams and products that can be found over the counter. The key to preventing acne scars is to clear the acne up as soon as it appears. The moment you see acne, then, you should do something about it. Try as many products as you can until the acne finally clears up. You don’t want to aggravate the acne, however, because that will only make it worse. Wait a while between products to prevent from drying out your skin. Dry skin can flake and crack and that will ultimately lead to scars. You want to get rid of the acne, not make your skin worse, so take care of your skin while also trying to get rid of the acne.

Don’t Pick At Or Pop Zits

It can be very tempting to pop zits that form white heads, or to pick at zits that have scabbed over, although this will only make your condition worse. Picking at and popping zits are the quickest way to get acne scars. Your best bet is to use topical creams and other ointments, while leaving the actual acne sores alone.

If your acne is still getting worse and you are afraid you’ll get acne scars, make an appointment to visit your dermatologist. Your dermatologist will know what to do when it comes to your skin to prevent acne scars. Whether you have to take prescription medicines or you have to use prescription ointments, if you are afraid of scarring you’ll do whatever it takes. Acne and acne scars don’t have to go hand and hand. The key is to be proactive and to do whatever you can to prevent acne from haunting you for the rest of your life.
