Great Skin Care Tips and Hints

Our skin is an organ that ages and gets sick just like any other. Some skin aging, damage, and blemishes come from external influences, such as the sun, dirt, and bacteria. Acne

Acne is a skin disease caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units of the skin. Acne is common during puberty and is usually a response to increases in hormones. While acne usually goes away on its own, in some cases it persists for decades. And for a teenager going through puberty, knowing that the acne will probably go away in a few years is not much of a cure. Because acne is so common and hard to live with, many treatments are available. The basic ways to reduce acne symptoms include killing the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria on the skin, preventing pore blockage, hormonal treatments, and taking anti-inflammatory medication. Treatments can be quick and easy, or time consuming. There is no miracle cure for acne, but some of the current treatments work fairly fast.

Warts

Warts are small tumors that generally grow on the hands or feet as a result of a viral infection. The human papillomavirus is the typical cause. Warts are contagious and can be passed on by contact. While warts are generally not dangerous and usually go away on their own after a few months, most people would rather get rid of them as soon as possible. There are many treatments for warts including prescription, over-the-counter, and home remedies. Common prescription treatments include laser treatment, Keratolysis, and Cryosurgery. A common over-the-counter treatment is salicylic acid, and some have found that putting masking tape over the wart removes it over the course of weeks.

Moles

Moles are a very common skin making that can be subdermal or an external growth. Moles can be canerous, but the vast majority of them are benign. Many people prefer to have their moles removed if they feel they are a blemish, but some moles are considered attractive. Mole removal usually involves laser surgery, freezing, or scalpel surgery.

Wrinkles

Aging wrinkles happen on the surface of the skin naturally as a person gets older. There are many treatments for wrinkles including anti-aging creams, and cosmetic surgery such as face lifts. Anti-aging creams have not been proven to cause permanent or strongly positive effects, however many anti-aging cream users have found that they can produce a subtle positive effect for a period of time. You should not think that anti-aging creams are a cure for wrinkle, but they can make you look younger and are less expensive and invasive than surgery.

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are silvery pink lines that occur on the skin when rapid stretching occurs, such as with rapid weight gain or pregnancy. There are some possible preventitive treatments for stretch marks that can be used during the first stages of pregnancy. Some creams can moisten the skin and make it better able to stretch, reducing the visible stretch marks that will be produced. Stretch marks can later be removed with laser treatment, persciption retinoids, and dermabrasion.

Skin Care Products

Skin care products are in high demand and some can be very effective. Skin care products can produce quick results by making the skin healthier, and can prevent future damage. While no skin care product is a miracle cream that will give you perfect skin, they can replenish the skin and carry vitamins and minerals that make your skin appear healthier. Your skin needs nutrients just like your other organs, and sometimes your diet fails to give your skin what it needs to look its best. Skin care products can provide the vitamins and minerals that your diet does not and can keep your skin looking healthy.
